Suitable scope for a mosin-nagant?
 

Let's say one just bought a new MN and wanted to "trick" or "pimp" out the old russian sniper, but didn't want to do what the up tight puritans do and install an original scope/mount... no, this will be different.

Any advice? I want to be able to shoot said rifle to it's full potential. Here's the catch: something around $150. I know my choices are limited, but I want the best scope possible. Maybe something like a 3x9-40? Help a GIMer out!

Me too. The camo stock is out of stock. You can get a picitinny rail mount here for your scope too. Let me know if you find a good scope. I want to do the same with mine!

Have you considered buying one already bubba'd? It might be cheaper.

it would take more than just slapping on a scope to reach it's full potential

if/when you buy this rifle
take it to a gunsmith
and ask him for a scope, $150 tops
if the gunsmith has never handled one of these before
ask him some questions about sighting it for 1000 yds
he might know of a range/place where you both can go to do this
he gets to sight in a sniper rifle and you may get a few pointers about long-range shooting

have you thought about getting a solid case for this rifle ?
